Stephens County vital recordsStephens County vital records are available for $15 from the County Health Department in Duncan or the state Health Department, or online through VitalChek. Requests can be made in person or by mail, but restrictions apply to records of persons still living. Vital records date to 1907 when Oklahoma initiated recordkeeping; however, recordkeeping was spotty until the 1940s. Historical records may be available from the Southwest Oklahoma Genealogical Society (in Lawton in Comanche County) or the Oklahoma Historical Society, and marriage/divorce records available from the Court Clerk in Duncan. Stephens County was organized at 1907 statehood from part of the Chickasaw Nation and Comanche County.
