Copies cost $15, but there are restrictions if the person of record is living. While some records date to 1907, statewide recording was required in 1917, and compliance was not achieved until the 1940s. Historical records are available from the Oklahoma Historical Society. Divorce and marriage records are maintained by the County Clerk of Court in Bartlesville. Washington is, by area, the smallest county in Oklahoma, created upon statehood in 1907 out of part of the Cherokee Nation.
