Birth and death records on file with the department begin in 1904, and divorce and marriage records begin in 1909, however only records older than 50 years are open to the public. The vital records department provides an online request form for certified copies of birth records, though the form may not be used for genealogy requests which must, instead, be submitted through the mail.
