Arthur County is the least populated county in all of Nebraska and the fifth smallest in the entire country. As of the 2010 census, only 460 total people resided there, with about 1/3 of them living in the county's only town, the county seat of Arthur. Those wanting to research or obtain copies of vital records for Arthur County will need to contact
the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Service's vital records department in Lincoln, NE. Birth and death records on file with the department begin in 1904, and divorce and marriage records begin in 1909, however only records older than 50 years are open to the public. The vital records department provides an online request form
for certified copies of birth records, though the form may not be used for genealogy requests which must, instead, be submitted through the mail.
