Chariton County vital recordsThe Chariton County Historical Society & Museum in Salisbury, MO, has a vital records and historical documents library that is open to the public. A large amount of records are indexed within, including birth and death indexes with records stretching from 1883 to 1887, Federal census records for every decade from 1830 to 1920, family histories, marriage records from the early 1800s, and genealogical research materials. The Society will also perform research requests for the price of $10 per surname, and requests can be emailed. The Museum location is open Tuesday through Saturday from 1:00PM till 4:00PM, and open until 6:00PM on Wednesdays. Interested individuals can call (660) 388-5941 to schedule appointments outside those hours. To obtain copies of birth and death records, contact the Chariton County Health Center at 206 State Street in Keytesville, MO; they can also be called at (660) 288-3675.
