The Hinds County Chancery Clerk website maintains an online database that provides free access to a number of property, criminal, tax, and other records. Copies cannot be obtained from the database, which is for research purposes only, and can instead be gotten from the Chancery Clerk's office, which is located at 316 S President St. in Jackson, MS. Also in Jackson is the State Department of Health's Vital Records Department, which indexes and provides copies of birth and death records, dated from 1912 to the present, and marriage records, from 1926 to the present, for the entire state. Individuals can go to their office, located at 571 Stadium Drive, to apply for copies of records and research those that are open to the public. Applications and credit card payments for certified copies are also available online or over the phone, via the VitalChek service. Requests can also be sent by mail.
