Macon County vital recordsThe Macon County Recorder of Deeds is in charge of the office responsible for the indexing and dispensing of real estate and marriage records, as well as soldiers discharges. The Circuit Clerk also handles records, with their responsibility being civil and criminal. Both offices are at 101 E. Washington in the town of Macon; the Recorder is in Building 3, Suite 300, while the Clerk is in Building 2, Suite 1. The Macon County Historical Society maintains a Genealogy Library in the Macon County Historical Museum at 1204 S. Missouri Street also in Macon. The Museum is open to the public who wish to research the records and documents on file on Thursdays and Fridays from 2:00PM until 4:00PM, and Saturdays from 10:00AM until 12:00PM. Appointments can be scheduled outside those regular hours by calling (660) 395-6754 or (660) 395-5135.
