Washington Genealogy & LDS Family History Centers
The great state of Washington boasts a diverse history, and many that live in the state have an interest in learning more about their family history in the area. To get the information you need to effectively trace your genealogy, visit a Washington family history center in your area. These centers are direct offshoots of the extensive Family History Library in Utah, and provide access to many of the resources available through this facility. Members of the Washington LDS church staff the centers and provide visitors with the guidance and training they need to research and learn more about their family trees.

Washington Genealogy Resources
Washington State Digital Archives has a tremendous online collection available: 2.4 million records! From the top menu, Search and Collections are the most helpful beginning tools. Their prison records may include all correspondence to, from, and about the subject for a very reasonable copying fee, send as PDF via email. Contact the Washington State Archives directly for additional information.
The Washington State Library has a great (free) Ask-A-Librarian service. They will provide copies of newspaper obituaries! It does take six weeks to get a response, so be prepared to wait. Although it is free, donations are appreciated.
