Cortland County vital recordsThe Cortland County Historical Society operates both the Suggett House Museum and the Kellogg Memorial Research Center at 25 Homer Ave in the town of Cortland, the county seat. The Research Center serves as the Society archives and contains a large number of records, including census data from the mid 1800s to the early 1900s, family histories and genealogies, marriage, birth, and death records gleaned from various sources such as historical newspapers, military records, and much more. The Society also accepts research requests which it will perform for $15 per hour. The office of the County Clerk also has property records on file for the area dating as far back as 1808, the year the county was established, to the present, and those records dated more recently than 1986 can be viewed on the public computer terminals available at the office.
