Niagrara County is home to the well known waterfalls of Niagara Falls, the strongest waterfall in the entire continent of North America. The county has a sizable population of about 215,000, and the town of Lockport is the county seat. The Niagara County Genealogical Society operates a genealogical library in Lockport, NY, at 215 Niagara Street. The library houses about 2,000 historical record books which include family genealogies, property, census, and cemetery records, and a large variety of others. Use of the library is granted to anyone regardless of their membership with the Society, however the Look-Up Program the Society offers is limited to members exclusively. The program is basically a long distance research service for those who are unable to visit the library in person.
