Chester County vital records are under the purview of the Chester Public Health Department Vital Records Office in Chester. This office will provide certified copies of records 1915-present to family members only when ordered in person or by mail (online through VitalCheck), for $12 per search/copy. There is a free online index for 1915-1960 deaths on the state Department of Health website. Historical records (birth 1641-1914 and deaths 1641-1960) are available at the South Carolina Department of Archives and History in Columbia.
