A database of Mecklenburg marriages from 17651810 has been compiled from loose papers in the county clerk's office; here researchers may find the names of both bride and groom and the date of the marriage bond. Vital records are available to qualified individuals at the Virginia Department of Health for $12.00. Birth records become public after 50 years, other vital records after 50. Birth and death records (18531896) and marriage records (18531935) are kept by the Library of Virginia.
