Stevens County, MN Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Records
Stevens County, founded in 1862, had its first Register of Deeds, the precursor to the modern day County Recorder, 10 years later in 1872. The office has maintained and indexed the county's vital records, which include birth and death records, marriage licenses, property records, as well as military discharge records, since then. For ordering certified records online, Stevens County refers the MN Dept of Health's Office of the State Registrar, which provides birth and death certificates from 1935 to the present for every county in Minnesota. To get copies of records from prior to 1935, individuals will need to go to the Stevens County Recorder's office in person, on 400 Colorado Ave in Morris, MN. For research purposes, the Stevens County Historical Society operates a research center, also in Morris, that is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM, as well as by appointments, which can be made by calling (320) 589-1719.
